Marina Market pulls in the crowds
The second Marina Market that took place on Sunday was heralded a great success. Located next to the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea Marina, it attracted huge crowds throughout the day with many of the stalls selling out.
The Marina Market launched in August and was successful despite the appearance of hurricane type weather. Fortunately the Market held this weekend had much kinder weather. There were a huge variety of stalls selling fresh food and handcrafted goods. From cured meats to gluten free cakes and jewellery to art, there really was something for everyone.
The Marina Market is organised by the same people behind the successful Uplands Market. It aims to boost vitality and local trade in areas of Swansea and utilise urban space in new and meaningful ways.
The Natural Health Service who offer therapy treatments to the busy shoppers said, “What a wonderful market it was, superb atmosphere and a brilliant crowd.” Whilst shopper Clare Lloyd said, “It was fantastic and a lovely setting.”
Lucy Beddall, one of the market coordinators said, “Again this was a hugely successful Market. The team were overwhelmed with the amount of people who visited. It’s such a collaborative effort and the success is down to the strong support we have received from the local businesses and residents. As a social enterprise, this is invaluable.”
The next Marina Market will be held on Sunday 12th October between 10am – 3pm. It is situated in Dylan Thomas Square SA1 1TT. The next Uplands Market is Saturday 27th September.
